Assessment on Application of Gender Responsive and Inclusive Education Practices in Schools

With the support from Education Out Loud (EOL) Project in Somalia in collaboration with Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and Oxfam Denmark, EFASOM produced an assessment on application of gender responsive and inclusive education practices in schools.

The purpose of the assessment was to evaluate the current state of gender-responsive and inclusive education practices in schools; to identify gaps and challenges in implementation at both managerial and teaching levels, and to provide actionable recommendations for enhancing gender and inclusivity across educational programs.

The Analysis of Public Expenditure in the Education Sector in Somalia: Years: 2021 – 2024

With the support from Education Out Loud (EOL) Project in Somalia in collaboration with Global Partnership for Education (GPE), Oxfam Denmark, EFASOM produced the analysis of public expenditure in the education sector in Somalia.

The primary aim of this analysis is to assess how public resources are distributed, spent, and their impact on the education system and examine trends in education sector funding over the past four fiscal years (FY2021, FY2022, FY2023, FY2024) to understand changes in priorities and distribution patterns.

Research on Disability and Access to Inclusive Education in Somalia

With the support from Education Out Loud (EOL) Project in Somalia in collaboration with Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and Oxfam Denmark, EFASOM produced evidence-based advocacy research on access to inclusive education for OOSC living with disabilities to establish the current status of education for the CWDs, their level of participation and the effectiveness of the education system to accommodate them. The specific objective of this advocacy research was to understand the educational experiences of children with a disability attending regular and special institutions and determine the nature and scale of supply-side barriers to OOSC with disabilities accessing inclusive education. The research also sought to determine the main demand-side barriers to OOSC with disabilities accessing inclusive education and to understand issues and challenges related to the legislative and policy environment to support and promote the education of children with disabilities.

Education Financing Observatory in Somalia Years: 2015 – 2021

With the support from Education Out Loud (EOL) Project in Somalia in collaboration with Global Partnership for Education (GPE), Oxfam Denmark, and Global Campaign for Education, EFASOM produced the Somali Education Financing Observatory Report that estimates the gap between resources allocated to education against resources needed to effectively make education available, accessible, acceptable and adaptable in the country.

Education in Emergency Evidence-based Research on Disadvantaged Children Living in IDP camps in Mogadishu

With the support from Education Out Loud (EOL) Project in Somalia in collaboration with Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and Oxfam Denmark, EFASOM produced evidence-based research study on disadvantaged children who don’t have an appropriate education opportunity living Mogadishu IDP camps. During this used descriptive statistics research design both in qualitative and quantitative. The target population of this study were the families with children aged 6 years and over who live in 16 IDP camps in 9 districts in Mogadishu and selected 121 families in different IDP camps in districts as sample size. Data was collected through questionnaire and finally processed and analyzed the result using computer SPSS 26 version.

Public Perception on Education

MARCH 2024

Under EOL program with the support from GPE/Oxfam Denmark, EFASOM has produced this KAP survey to measure people’s perception about education. EFASOM will use the results of this survey to adpt community mobilizaiton, awareness raising, and advocacy to improve access to education.
